I was casually doing my thing at a YMCA when someone told me "I train like a competitor" , and encouraged me to pursue it. I had never before entertained the idea, but thought *eyes alight* "hmmmm, yeah maybe I should try it"....so I started training with a competition trainer. Unfortunately, I had a medical issue arise, and needed surgery, which put me out of gym for quite a while, and far too close to the show ,....
...After that, I fell off the wagon big time.....not only did I fall off.....I fell off, rolled down the hill, and landed in a big pile of cheeseburgers and whiskey shots. Now, I'm finally over it, and ready to go beast mode again! whoop whoooop!!! *Spartan howl*
I find lifting extremely meditative, and it balances my body, mind, and spirit like nothing I have ever found. You see...I spend my days in total hippie mode... doing massage to soothing music, and making art to (...you guessed it) even more soothing music.....its all very nice but sometimes a girl just has to rage to metal, and lift up heavy objects. Seriously 0_O....I have that warrior fire....everyone does in some form, and I LOVE letting that side of me come out in the gym. It is extremely cleansing!!!
It seriously feels borderline spiritual for me to lift heavy before the rest of my day gets started, because pushing myself to the limit, and proving time after time, reminds me that I can achieve things I never thought possible with just focus and determination That is an important lesson that feels very real for me when leaving the gym, and it allows that princess warrior confidence to carry me through the rest of my day with the same focus and determination.
