I just decided I wanted to live a few years longer... I knew I was way overweight and wanted to continue an active life. I like to water ski, and it was getting difficult. I also want to be around to help take care of my family a few more years. I had been thinking about doing something for some time and then my wife lost thirty pounds after finding out she was diabetic. She was my final motivation to do something about my health. Went out to Sams and bought a poor man's BowFlex... called a Weider Crossbow Platinum 600. (my opinion- a much better machine) Then started buying free weights for the exercises the machine didn't work well for. Still using both, although for some leg exercises I am maxing out the machine now... (Now I am thinking of some version of a Smith Machine.)
Don't know exactly, but at this point in my life I do. I get a kick out of the pump and the idea having veins show. I am not happy if I can't work out almost every day.
Ten years ago I would have told you that I would never lift. I did in High School a bit, but just hated the way the gym smelled. I think maybe in my old age my nose is getting less sensitive?
