Went back to the gym after battling severe fibromyalgia, RA, and neuro illness in order to throw all drugs in the toilet. I went back to running marathon distances & training for them along with bodybuilding. While preparing for the first Tampa Bay-to-Bay, I encountered the first hiccup in my long run with severe stress fractures of the long bones. When I fractured my left femur and they found severe damage in S1&2 due to arthritis I was told no more running (I'm still bucking the system a little here and there now that S1&2 have completely fuzed together). That's a bad thing for a distance runner, so I went back to hardcore weight training full time. My mentor talked me into doing my 1st Figure competition in Nov 2007 at 44 yrs old. I had my first full season under my belt and at the end of 2008 found out I'd be on yet another battle with Chronic Liver Disease, chronic arthritis and Multiple Meyloma. The 2009 season has started slow and has been a challenge, but my attitude is "so what" I'm not ready to give it up and I'm not 6ft under so let's get to it! Now the 2009 season is complete and I'm off-season and working into my 2010 season and still telling the docs to stuff their meds and opting for the NATURAL way without the man-made drugs to get me by, instead I opt for a good hardcore training session to dislodge the toxic mindset and bring me back into focus physically, mentally & spiritually.
The challenge and the hardwork it takes to get there and beating the doctors odds, having the ability to refuse their pain meds, steriods and the like while getting the natural stuff up and running. The great thing about competiting and training is that I learn something new with every round of preparation and then some.
