I graduated high school right around 150 lbs. I had no interest in sports, working out, or doing any more physical activity than was absolutely necessary. My mom, however, decided she was going to do a triathalon for the first time at the age of 45. I didn't understand why she did it! I didn't get why someone would want to do something like that! I started lifting weights for a pretty simple reason; I was tired of getting pushed around when I would go to rock shows. As I kept lifting and starting making gains, I started to understand what would drive a 45 year old mother of four to run a triathalon. I kept training and haven't looked back since. My mom continues to work out harder than most guys I know, and continues to inspire me the same why I try to inspire others.
Working out is a spiritual experience for me: it pushes me to become better physically and mentally, to push through any challenge I face. Sometimes I fail. But then I get back in the gym the next day, and keep pushing until I complete my goals.
