I was an elite pole vaulter in high school and had to overcome many obstacles with my health to achieve my goals. My main goal was to get a scholarship pole vaulting at a big university but after a horrible car accident, I faced many challenges of getting back into the sport I loved. I shattered my arm in a car accident in high school and had 6 months to recovery before the track season began. With seven screws and a metal plate in my arm, I was patched up and ready to fight. I had the will to fight for pole vaulting and I overcame my injury. Making it to state was my goal of the season, which I achieved. I was offered a scholarship at a local D1 university that believed in me and my ability to keep fighting. Soon after I started pole vaulting at the university, I developed severed chronic patella tendonitis. I went through 6 months of physical therapy to try and strengthen my knee, but I was struggling and my pain and condition only worsened. My patella tendon tissue began to die and I was faced with having to go under the knife again. I had my second surgery and unfortunately, it failed. The Dr. ordered another surgery after that and had to cut out a lot of my tendon the second time and inserted some material to make it stronger. After my second surgery, I figured my body wasn't worth it in the long run. I was only 20 years old and had already had three surgeries so it was time to retire from pole vaulting. I began lifting weights and doing a lot of low impact cardio and fell in love. I am now just finally feeling like my knee is starting to recovery and I want to give body building a try. I have a strong physic and a competitive side so I want to be all the best I can be. I'm ready to eat clean and push my body to my limits. Let's see how far I can go :)
