All the men in my immediate family play rugby and I have played since I was 9 years old. I've always been a front 5 player (playing second row) and that means I have been allowed a little leeway in my physique as it's important to have a bit of weight behind you in the scrum. This however, means that I have never had a very low body fat % (I've lost fat over the years and am now at around 20%) and now that I'm growing older I realise that the way my body looks is not what I want it to look like for the majority of my life. I have made the decision recently to start training hard and reduce my body fat; I want to change my way of life and I want to have more confidence in my body.
The real driving force behind my motivation to work out is my older brother, he's always been leaner than me, and I envy him for that, but with his help and support in the gym I've started to finally achieve noticeable gains.
I love being one of the biggest men in the room (even though I'm also one of the youngest) and I love the respect that having muscle brings.
Achieving a physique that some people have laughed at me for dreaming about, really drives me on towards my final goal!
I never sleep better than I do after an apocalyptic leg session! GO HEAVY OR GO HOME!
