I trained a little in my twenties then marriage and babies took me out of the gym. During my thirties I didn't workout at all but chased around three kids to keep in shape, During my forties I studied Tang So Doo karate and received my black belt at 44. After that I wasn't challenged anymore and stopped all fitness activities - at 48 with onset diabetes and a really thick muffintop I began looking into weight training and fiddling around with my husbands dumbells in the basement. Shortly after that we set up a gym in the basement and I began to seriously look all over the internet for workouts and inspiration, I began to follow Fighter Diet fitness guru - Pauline Nordin and started to add a little muscle. I met friends online who shared this growing passion, Maggie Corso was my first fitness friend and in July 2013 went to my first NPC Show to meet her in person. There I caught the Figure Gal bug and wanted to train seriously to be a figure competitor. I began looking into getting a coach/personal trainer to take this to the next level.
I discovered Team Bombshell at a local NPC show and due to the number of beautiful girls that were winning top places in both figure and bikini I was very impressed. I was accepted on Team Bombshell and began training for my first show in September 2013, I stepped on stage eight weeks later in my first figure competition and it was a dream come true. I have since competed in six shows and 2015 looks better than ever. I love the stress relief I get at the gym. I am also very pleased that I am fighting off so many diseases that seem to hit people my age once they slow down and stop taking care of themselves. Diabetes, osteoporosis and high anxiety issues are just a few that I have overcome. ,
Also, there is no price for the huge sense of accomplishment of achieving my fitness level at age 50 which continues to keep me excited and driven to continue in this great sport that I love. All this would never be possible without the training from my Coach Gennifer Strobo of Bombshell Fitness, my loving husband and my family. I feel truly blessed and I hope to inspire others to never slow down, stay flexible and keep moving forward.
