My fitness story began when I went to U.S. Army Basic Combat Training. I definitely became addicted to the feeling of being physically capable of doing things like running for extended periods of time and handling my own body weight, and so my personal fitness training didn't stop after I graduated from BCT. Over the last couple of years, I've learned a lot about diet, calisthenic exercise, and lifting from various subject matter experts that I've met from gym-hopping and on-and-off training.
I was not the most physically capable person growing up - the only caveat on that being that I was able to run fairly quickly as a child. When I was eleven, I started putting on excess fat and lost pretty much all of my physical capabilities up until I was about seventeen. Upon entry of military training, I was only able to do eight push-ups, forty-eight sit-ups, and could hardly run a mile in less than eight minutes - and that was after months of hard work. Fitness is a proving grounds for me, and the feeling of being capable of more and more physically demanding tasks after working hard on myself is addicting; progress is the best facet of working out for me. I've decided to join the Bodybuilding.com community because I want to branch out and learn how to incorporate bodybuilding into my fitness regime, since I've never really worked out with an ideal body goal in mind and I will most likely need advice. I'd also like to use the community as a way to hold myself accountable in an appropriate environment - by which I mean that I'd rather use a forum solely intended for the purpose of fitness to keep myself on track as opposed to posting on various social media outlets as I have in the past.
