I always liked the idea of having muscles. I think that I was pushed over the edge when I saw the second Terminator film with Linda Hamilton. She was one of the first women who had a physique I admired. Afterward, I found some pictures of Cory Everson, Mia Finnegan and some others that really inspired my. My sister talked me into going to the gym with her. I agreed because it was an all women's gym. Back then, I was way too intimidated to work out with men present! We hired a trainer for a few sessions so we could use the equipment properly and so that we would have good form when doing our workouts. Luckily, we got the right person. He did what we expected but he also gave us a program to follow. We had a lot of fun hanging out together at the gym. Lo and behold, a few months later I started seeing changes. My stick-thin arms started to show some definition and I was looking just a tiny bit more curvy and less like a skeleton! I liked what I saw and that was enough to keep me going back!
I like the discipline and order working out brings to my life. The aesthetic result is nice and I am always trying to get better but the psychological benefit is great too. I am a naturally anxious person and I am prone to worrying. I find the physical demands at the gym tend to calm me down. It keeps me fit and HAPPY!
