I got started because of my bodybuiding friends.I always had it in my nature to be fit. It runs in my family.Weight training came later down the road when I hung around bodybuilders. They kept saying that I had the best frame to do weight lifting and toning up my muscles for shows. I always laughed and never took them seriously.Five years later I took it into consideration and it was the best thing I could have ever done.I love the way I look and most of all I love the response I get from others inspired by me.I want to help everyone feel what I feel and be healthy. I will remain this way as long as I can and help others as well.I want to pay it foward.
My fitness journey began when I wanted to become a model in 2004.I barely ate and did lots of cardio training. I was called too skinny one too many times. I threw my hands up on modeling for a while and started a body transformation. I started weight training with my bodybuilding friends. You are what you hang around so I became like them. They would constantly tell me that my body frame would be perfect for competing and I would laugh them off but thought about it through the years. As I progressed I kept hearing compliments on my muscular build and it felt great!
I hit heavy weights in November 2012 and took myself through an 11 week, clean eating, (on season) food plan. In April 2013 my body was transformed and I competed in a huge show. I entered three divisions and never walked off that stage without a trophy in my hand. It was the most amazing feeling and I knew right then what kind of model and role model I wanted to beâ¦. A FIT ONE!!!
One week after my show I was diagnosed with cancer for my second time and needed surgery ASAP. My soul was stripped away. The medical specialists said I would not recover for 6 - 8 weeks. My doctor said that due to my low BMI and clean eating habits I saved my own life and it prevented the cancer from spreading anywhere else as it was isolated to that specific area. I had major surgery on June 27th 2013. Because of my strength and health from bodybuilding I proved the recovery time they gave me would be wrong.
I woke up from the surgery and continued my same routines of competition preparation. It was very rough at times but I competed 7 weeks after my surgery just when I was told I would just then be recovered. On August 17th 2013 I brought home two medals. My mind, body, and soul were restored!!!
Bodybuilding saved my life and now I am cancer free! My reward was being able to write this story and too hopefully inspire others. I want to continue to pursue my dream in modeling doing fitness and bodybuilding forever!!!
The best workout results for me when I started to build was high protein, plenty of water, and workouts as follows: 5 sets of 10-12 reps, heavy weighted exercises (almost not being able to push past my 12th rep ). I did 6-8 different exercises per body part. It may be a lot but the longer and harder I worked, the faster I progressed cosmetically.
I love the bodybuilding workout because it helps me with the long day work week schedule I have and it definitely controls stress levels. Lifting heavy really gets me phenomenal tones in my body structure. When you look and feel fit everyone can see it and your confidence level shoots through the roof!!!
