I joined this site in 2012, looking for support to transform my body from the inside out. In 2015 I was fit and fab, then had some accidents that impacted my right hip and I was MIA on the fitness scene from that point on. On November 27, 2017 I had major surgery to replace the severely degenerated hip that shortened my right leg by 2". the imbalance created moderate s****osis. I gained weight and was in mid-130's due to inactivity.
Now it is January 15, 2018 and I am 6 weeks today post op and I am I down to 101..need to gain weight in the form of muscle. My legs are the same length, back and knee pain gone and I am on the comeback trail to fit and fit as a really Keen Ager that intends to stay fit, strong, lean, flexible for the rest of my life. I soooo missed being active and strong, and now I have a new lease on life I am back and more commuted to fitness than ever before.
In my youth I struggled through two eating disorders, bulimia and self-starvation...anorexia, laxative abuse and distortion in body size and shape. Image management and work in the fashion industry created an inside out sense of self.
After years of therapy and soul searching I recovered memories of childhood sexual abuse and when I realized I was unconsciously abusing myself the way I'd been abused it motivated me to stop fixating on being thin and start focusing on being healthy. At age 31 I started working as a fitness leader and that that was when I started working out and it took me down a different path. At age 70 I am in the best shape of my life and have no intention of retiring. I am happily married to my life and business partner and together we co-founded and co-direct a personal development company called Fresh Beginnings where we write, produce and present dynamic living seminars, do public speaking and offer life coaching services on and off line. For more information on Fresh Beginnings check out website: www.fresh-beginnings.com I have also written a book about my healing/spiritual jouirney to health and wholeness. It is called I've Been There...A Testimony of Hope and the website is: www.ibtbook.com
