I joined the gym though an employee benefit offered at work with no real intentions until.... I was at home eating a pizza watching the active channel (not sure why, maybe feeling guilty? haha!) and I saw Mindi Smith!
I suddenly realised that looking good wasn't about being thin, it was about having muscle and being strong and for the first time I had seen an attractive women who has my build - big thighs, broad shoulders! I threw the pizza away and head straight for the gym ready to try out what Id seen Mindi doing.
The instant I started lifting free weights I felt empowered and I just KNEW I had started a journey I'd never look back on ... and I never have! :)
2 of the 3 things that motivate me in life are:
1) Sense of accomplishment
2) Instant gratification
Training and working out provide me with both of these! Also, I like to feel in control and my choices are the one thing I have control over.
I have found my passion - I feel strong and powerful, I have increased energy. I look better and I love it when people automatically assume I'm a personal trainer because of how I look. I like when strangers comment of how strong i look :)
