Started in high school back in 2003 taking a weight training class. I wish I would have learned to squat and deadlift back then, but all I remember was wanting huge arms and abs. Lots of benching and got up to 265 at 155 bodyweight. What a waste. It wasn't until the end of college that I started squatting, but still was not deadlifting. I did not see that great of gains... I did have huge arms and abs, but I felt completely unproportional. At the time I remember measuring and having 16" biceps. Wtf? Where'd that go, I'm down to 14" now.
Finally, in 2011, I did Kris Gethin's 12 week trainer and then followed it with Starting Strength. The diet and motivation of the Kris Gethin program along with being able to see him train and do the same thing everyday really helped me. Starting Strength was the kicker to finally get me squatting and deadlifting properly. I got hooked on wanting to lift big and I've been mixing that back in forth with bodybuilding.
2012 - All focused on strength and bulking. I ended with 180kg squat, 180kg deadlift, and 125kg bench. I looked like **** in my opinion and wanted to have better aesthetics while maintaining my strength.
2013 - I have focused entirely on cutting and maintaining strength. I've gained about .5kg muscle this year, but lost 8kg entirely of fat. I'm prepping for a bodybuilding show on October 6th where I will hopefully come in lean and shredded. My strength has not dipped too much, but has not improved. Once I hit my show I plan on reverse dieting and focusing on strength again through running a split schedule Smolov followed by Sheiko.
