I was a football athlete as an offensive guard from junior high all the way thru the third year of college. The coaches, field, and the gym went away and I progressed onward to graduate school where I ended up getting my doctorate degree in Pharmacy. Since then I have progressed further and achieved the following certification: board certified pharmacotherapy specialists.
Almost one year ago I had my 1st child & received some bad news at my annual physical: diagnosis I had/was becoming insulin resistance and the physician was deciding if I classified as pre-diabetic or not. Having just completed 8 years of healthcare schooling my life flashed before my eyes and what I saw truly changed my life: I was sitting at my son¦s high school football game in a wheelchair with a patch over my left eye, right leg must have been amputated as it was missing, but to top it all off I was experiencing a heart attack.
Diabetes: one of the leading causes of cardiovascular disease (the heart attack), amputation, and blindness.
Note this did not happen (other than in my brain) but I told myself to HELL with that. Growing up in a single parent household I was not going to leave my son fatherless due to poor habits.
As a coached athlete I knew that I needed help, not to mention that I had fallen off the wagon for over 9 years!!! Thus my transformation begins:
Start: May 3rd, 2013
Wt: 270 lbs â -->
Ht: 6¡¦ 0¡¨
Fat: 49.6% â--> %
Waist: 47.5¡¨ â --> ¨
BP: 102/70 â³ Now 114/63
HR: 62 bpm â³ Now 58
As an endomorph/mesomorph and impatient I will admit that I took prescription medications to kick start my program. If you have a problem with that, look in the mirror, I played college football and was one of the very few who did not take anabolic steroids thus why I was a backup.
Phase I: lose at least 50 pounds of body fat in one year - completed Feb 26, 2014 fat loss 59.5 lbs
With 12 weeks of phentermine followed by the newly approved weight loss medication Belviq (non-stimulant) I not only completed my goal but I destroyed it.
How: low carb diet (25 grams or less) with a good multivitamin and above mentioned medications with physician supervision I would not recommend without MD supervision. Minimal exercise if I was forced to average I would say 60 minutes of jogging per week. (not a typo). In my opinion I owe the thanks to my doctor and Belviq (will power in a bottle). With Belviq I was able to address my behavioral habits - I had no hunger period!
In 10 months I lost 59+ pounds of fat now phase II begins
Phase IIa: begin prepping body for hulking phase (not 20 anymore) estimated 3 weeks in length - DONE
Phase IIb: Hulking phase begins = Jim Stoppani 12 - week Shortcut to Size - done; Arnold Blueprint Trainer current program done.
Adversity strikes!!!! Was in a car wreak and broke my right thumb with torn ligaments xUCK!!!
Should be completing the final stages of PT by the time the yearly Dymatize transformation challenge starts. This will serve as extra motivation to get back on track.
