My health & fitness journey began as I grew up playing sports, with a particular interest in wrestling. I found wrestling to be challenging both physically and mentally. A unique requirement of the sport was that of weight management; in order to compete, you had to make weight before each match. This taught me valuable life-long lessons of both discipline and accountability.
Discipline was needed to properly prepare for a match and I learned what it meant to be accountable because my coachesâ and teammates depended on me to make weight.
After graduation from college I commissioned as an officer in the Air Force. My wrestling days were behind me and I was looking for a way to further develop my physique from the many years of athletic training. My friend invited to do my first bodybuilding show and from then on Iâve been on hooked on fitness!
Iâm grateful for the lessons learned from wrestling and the military because Iâve been able to apply those same skill sets toward my health & fitness endeavors.
It wasnât long after my first show that I realized that I could view my âphysique as a businessâ and the seed of becoming a fitness personality was planted.
Bodybuilding/Working out has provided a door for me to motivate and inspire others to aspire to a healthier lifestyle. I love knowing that everyday in every way when I step into the gym I'm making progress towards a better body.
My love for bodybuilding/working out can be summarized by these sayings:
- Builds confidence, self-esteem, and commands respect from others.
- "Man must have a battle if he is to live."
- "My greatest fear is losing the desire to grow/change myself."
