I started working out when I was 32 and got into pretty good shape. But moved around, got out of a routine, and found myself at 40 weighing 240 pounds. Started a program and stayed with it for 6 years, then fell off the wagon. Got back into it in 2004, did really well, built some muscle, then stopped. Last January decided I did not want to be THAT 50 year old guy. Am totally committed now....really!
Had some major setbacks: In 2008, 5 hour spinal surgery to remove a bone fragment and fix a disk, then Multiple Pulmonary Embolisms a year later that should have killed me. As well during this time, my dad, my brother and father in law all died. By July of 2009 I was up 40 pounds again, high blood pressure and really bummed out! Made a deal with my doctor, designed a new program, had lost 50, gained 15 in lean mass and am feeling great!
The confidence, the way you look, the way you feel. Lying if I said the compliments didn't matter....
