I was active through College. Boxing, running and weight training, But working out became less of a priority when I was working long hours and being in a bad relationship didn't help. My self esteem was low..very low. A friend of mine I hadn't seen in a while. She had lost an incredible amount of weight. I asked her what she was doing and how I can hop on the wagon, and she told me about an amazing Gym in the area. I started going to this kettlebell bootcamp studio. and the weight started to fall off me. 2 years later I was down from a size 20 to a size 14. I started competing in Kettlebell lifting, I've won metals, received certification and ranks, I even started to train some of the bootcamp classes at the Gym. In my third year at the Gym; just before my 25th birthday I as diagnosed with Stage 1 Breast Cancer. I started treatment and my body wasn't able to keep up with any kind of work outs. Unfortunately I happened to be the body type that gained weight from chemotherapy, not lose it. It's been two years now and I am still batteling cancer, but my treatments have become easier for me to manage, and I am working out on my own now at home and the gym.
Working out makes me feel alive. I love the feeling of that muscle burn a few days after a good workout. I also love how being in a full routine and committing to the workouts focuses my mind. When my body is telling me put the weights down, my mind says one more rep. Training my body and mind have helped me get through a lot, and it will continue to. Its a great way to get your body mind and soul focused and healthy.
