I started training for sports the summer before my freshmen year in High School. During my second year a football coach by the name of Chad Beller took me under his wing and showed me the ins and outs of lifting. He continued to guide me until he was fatally injured in a car crash(I can never thank him enough, he was a great mentor and a great friend...RIP Coach).
He and others inspired me to study exercise more in depth. I read every magazine and book I could get my hands on. I think I spent close to 600 dollars in High School just on literature. This lead to the decision to major in exercise physiology in College.
I graduated High School and decided to forgo the small college football path so that I could concentrate on my studies (and not get injured again).
After shoulder surgery in 2002 I took time away from working out(3 1/2 years), but finally got rededicated and fell back in love with it. It will always be a part of my life, always!
I love the discipline. I might not have it everywhere else in my life but I can turn to it where it matters most, my body. I love being an example for others to work out. I might not be close to where I want to be but people see me working at it and hopefully it inspires them.
