My interest in working out (as an adult) started in 2012 when I worked with some buddies of mine that were very into hitting the gym daily and taking their protein shakes. Their dedication to the gym and weight lifting quickly rubbed off onto me and before I knew it, I had signed up for my first gym membership and was well on my way to a healthier lifestyle. I immediately saw gainz after only 6 weeks in the gym, and knew it was the lifestyle I wanted to have for myself.
I first started working out in order to lose some fat and gain some muscle. Two years later, my passion and love had grown from casual weight lifting into pursuing my personal training certification, getting my second degree in Sports Management, and continuously increasing my workout variations while learning more about the fitness industry in the progress. 5 years later, I am still working out regularly and always helping people find their way into a healthier and more fit lifestyle. I don't look at working out the same as I did when I first started, but instead, I now understand that it is a lifelong process. I used to compare myself to others and compete with dudes similar in size to me, but now, I understand that I am my own competition.
2022 Update: It has been about 2 years since I worked out regularly, and I have hit the gym 15 times already this year in comparison with the last 2 years of about 10 total times in all. Needless to say, I am not where I wanted to be back in my earlier days of fitness, however, I am back to the grind and striving to be a healthier person both physically and mentally.
