I was a collegiate sprinter and a football player so I have always trained consistently. When I moved to rural Nevada to work for the U.S. Forest Service, I found myself in one of the most physically demanding jobs out there. My job is to hike. I spend my days climbing peaks in the mountains of eastern Nevada. I put in 8-12 miles per day, 5 days per week in some extremely rugged country. Being and staying physically fit, therefore, is a prerequisite to staying employed. So I started lifting early in the mornings then hiking all day. It was a perfect recipe for bodybuilding success. I entered my first competitiion in 2009 and won my Professional Status in April, 2011.
I love bodybuilding mainly because of the structure and discipline it brings to my life. I feel as though the qualities instilled by a bodybuilding lifestyle (dedication, perseverence, patience) translate to all facets of life. Since I started seriously bodybuilding I have become a better husband, employee, athlete, and person. I also like, and need, bodybuilding to be effective at my job.
