Sometimes in life you lose your way. Work, social obligations raising a family make it difficult to stay fit, it's easy to sit down with a beer and watch the game. I know because it happened to me. Which like most middle aged people, I think, I found odd. I never thought I would be one of those guys that was overweight, out of shape that just gave up. I was always active in sports as a kid, the military as a young adult, over thirty softball (Beer leagues) and hockey leagues, running 5k's with my teen age children and the past 5 years or so dedicated weight training.
Mental down time, forgetting all the crap of the day, focusing on the rep I'm pushing out and nothing else. Looking at myself and seeing the changes is a great feeling. I have found that the weight lifting culture excludes nobody, I have met gym goers from teen to senior citizen, buisiness owners to kids with their first job ever, semi-pro athletes to soccer moms. All of these different walks of life have at least two common traits. 1. they are working towards a physical goal and 2. All have a positive ,encouraging and just a good person attitude about them.
