I've played basketball my whole life, never really being very big. In high school I was around 185 lbs., but my arms looked as if I was around 150. I had decent size in my legs from playing basketball for so long, doing drills, etc, and that was where I carried my weight. I decided eventually that I really wanted to get strong. I saw people in college bench pressing 225 lbs., and seeing those 2 plates, I was like "woow, I wanna do that!" When I really started studying up on supplements and weights was when I was laying in bed for a few months after having back surgery. I found bb.com and started reading everything I could find. Eventually I signed up, and am still learning more and more everyday.
Why I Love It:
It definitely is a stress release. It allows me to channel all my energy into something positive and worthwhile. It feels great when you see a change in your body, when you push out an extra rep, when you hit a PR on any lift, etc. It's very rewarding for me in that way.
How I Stay Motivated:
I always seem to have a new goal. At first, it was powerlifting. My goal was to get as strong and as large as I could. I added quite a bit of strength to what I could previously lift, and I added a good amount of weight as well. Just recently (past 4 months), I have become very involved in Mixed Martial Arts training. Because of this, I have changed my training a good amount. I now do cardio 3-4 times a week, lift 3 times a week, and go to classes..all to accomplish my goal of fighting competitively.

I'm not powerlifting anymore. But I still train very very heavy. I'm more of a powerbuilder than anything. Did hammer curls yesterday for bi's. Did the 100's for ten. Not bad.
I picked up the bench DVD from Elitefts.com a few months back when they went on sale for like 10 bucks a piece, a helluva deal.
There's shit to learn there regardless of how advanced you think you are.
Thanks for backing me up. Theyre some great numbers. I'd be damn proud if I could squat what ya bench. Great results in physique too. I've way to much bf. Oh God.....cardio again. Best of luck with all your goals. I'll be watching out for your progress.
Looking hard rock solid!
Good luck with your wrestling, yes it is always great when someone well known gives a shop at school.
Keep pumping heavy and smart!
