Background
I have always enjoyed sports! In my youth, I was active in cheer leading, basketball, softball, rodeos, ice skating, track, fishing and swimming. I always desired to compete and feel strong and athletic. I wanted to be in the Olympics as a child because I knew those were the best athletes in the world. Although I was engaged in many sports, I had moved to 5 different states over the course of my youth which made it difficult for me to sustain one type of sport. But my family could also tell you, I was entering contests all the time! I didn't know what I would succeed at or enjoy if I didn't try it. I purchased a book in the early 90's called "Pumping Up" by Ben Weider and Robert Kennedy. It had beautiful photos inside of strong women and I had always wanted that as a goal. I decided to give it a go! I competed in 2007 in my first show, which I didn't place but was for sure bit by the bodybuilding bug! I won the overall figure at the 2009 NPC Red River Classic, which enabled me to compete nationally. 2010 marked my first year to compete nationally and I did well for my first year! I competed at Junior Nationals, USA's and Nationals. My best placing was at Jr USA's in 2011 which was 10th. I was so proud! Since then, I have found a new love for eating clean, working out every day and loving what I do.
I love to look good, feel good and compete. I feel when I am strong and healthy nothing can get me down or prevent me from achieving my goals. It also makes me more confident in my daily life with work and other challenges. I love the way I feel when I workout and the results are amazing! http://www.oxygenmag.com/main.php?page=6&id=826

I work abs just about every day, using weighted ab routines and non-weighted. I vary this a lot.
I weight train 5-6 days a week with plyo work and HIT training. Which I love.

Bodybuilding...it IS a sport
Posted in Training : Oct 21, 2011 1:38pmWell, I have heard this several times that bodybuilding is NOT a sport. Obviously I disagree. Sculpting the body is not an easy thing to do. It requires commitment mentally, physically and nutrution wise. Most often, it is referred to a 'diet contest', being that the one who diets the best will often win. I would agree with that statement. Cheaters never win you know! LOL
During my competition season, I workout about three hours a day. This includes lifting and cardio and sometimes posing. You must begin your training at least 12-16 weeks out to get prepared for your show. Gra

My favorite lean meats and fish
Posted in Nutrition : Oct 05, 2011 7:32amI get asked a lot "what do you eat?" Well, not much during competition prep! I can tell you that. But I can say I have learned what I like and don't like. My main staple is the meat and fish that I eat due to it being a protein source.
For example, I used to buy cod and talapia at Wal Mart. UGH. No more! I found that Sam's (similar to Costco) has Cod Tenderloins that are out of this world. The taste is amazing. And the talapia...oh that talapia..they have so many variations. I found that the talapia at Wal Mart was just gross. So I found some at Target in a
