Went back to the gym after battling severe fibromyalgia, RA, and neuro illness in order to throw all drugs in the toilet. I went back to running marathon distances & training for them along with bodybuilding. While preparing for the first Tampa Bay-to-Bay I encounter the first in my long run with severe stress fractures of the long bones. When I fractured my left femur and they found severe damage in S1&2 due to arthritis I was told no more running. That's a bad thing for a distance runner, so I went back to weight training hard and full time. My mentor talked me into doing my 1st Figure competition in Nov 2007 at 44 yrs old. I've had one full season under my belt and at the end of 2008 found out I'd be on yet another battle with Chronic Liver Disease and Multiple Meyloma. The 2009 season has started slow and has been a challenge, but my attitude is "so what" I'm not ready to give it up and I'm not 6ft under so let's get to it! Fortunately, my trainer has not lost faith and has stuck by my side through a lot of this and as we now face OCB Yorton Cup (13 Nov)and NGA Mt. Rogers (21 Nov), I'm thankful to be back on the competition stage and pray that I can continue to do what I've gotten so addicted to for many years to come.
Why I Love It:
The challenge and the hardwork it takes to get there and beating the doctors odds, having the ability to refuse their pain meds, steriods and the like while getting the natural stuff up and running. The great thing about competiting and training is that I learn something new with every round of preparation and then some.
How I Stay Motivated:
I look at athletes with disabilities or illnesses that have overcome, older athletes and how great they look and feel, what their outlook on life is through it all.
BB Accomplishments:
1st time on stage NGA Mt. Rogers 2007: 4th Open Short Class, 2008 Season: 3rd time on stage (2nd in OCB) took 3rd. Yorton Cup 08, took two 8th place and a 7th w/130 competitors. Mt Rogers 08, 4th in Open Short, and 1st in Masters (40+). 2009 Season: NGA Potomac Cup 3rd in Open Short and 1st in Masters (40+). Training for upcoming OCB Yorton Cup and NGA Mt. Rogers mid-Nov 2009

Trainer that I've been working with for 4 years. I train cardio in the morning and do both weights and cardio at night with posing and routine practice afterwards.
6 days a week weight training geared to each body part/area with light work on a counter area for the last 3 groups of reps. Cardio training 7 days a week x 2.
Its been a long time since i competed but i am going to next year. But seems like every time i turn around i get hurt. Like yesterday i was taking a shower and bent over and now my lower back is hurting so bad i have been to the gym in two days and had to call off from work. What's the deal with that. LOL
Saw a comment you made in a body group. You are an inspiration. Keep on fighting hard. I am always moved by the overcomers I see. Thanks.
On a separate note. Did you know Eddie Doyle or Marc Parrish in HS?
