Background

When I Started: Sep 2003
HOW I STARTED:

In 2003 I went on a trip to Reston, VA with my husband. I noticed in the pictures we took that I looked heavier. I thought that I was really forgeting about myself - I was always tired and not loving myself at all. I suffered from severe depression because I was letting past issues affecting my life; I felt worthless. I was a very negative person and living a sedentary lifestyle. I decided to stop the excuses and on September, 2003, I decided to put my health first on my priority list. I am not letting my past destroy me but I am using it as a tool to make me stronger. With good health I knew everything in my life was going to improve - my energy, my self-esteem... even my passion is fitness. I love to help family and friends to be healthy and that's why I am an ISSA Certified Fitness Trainer. Like my grandfather says - If a person doesn't suffer, he/she won't make progress (in other words, what doesn't kill me, makes me stronger).

Changing my weight training routine every 6-8 weeks and doing different cardio routines. I love trying different and challenging workouts.

Also there are amazing people that keep me motivated to keep going - family and friends who I love very much. I want to stay strong for myself and to give my best in life and great times to my loved ones.

How Fitness helps alleviate a Severe Depression - My Story.

First of all, I am not going to say that fitness cures severe depression but it definitely helps along the path of recovery.  If you are suffering from depression, please look for professional help.


Regular physical activity can help alleviate symptoms of depression.  When you work out, your body releases endorphins - the “feel good” chemicals which can trigger a positive feeling and gives you lots of energy. 


This is all great to know but I wanted to share my experience instead of giving you medical details.

Bodies Reborn Marching for the Animals - 2011

It is that time of the year again where we are going to March for the Animals - Sunday, April 17, 2011 at Druid Hill Park.  It will be a fun-packed day of demonstrations, contests, entertainment and a 1.5-mile walk around Druid Hill Reservoir to benefit the Maryland SPCA. Most important, it raises money for homeless animals.

Team Fit & Strong By Deadlybaby - WE DID IT!!

October 16, 2010 Yesterday we went to the Health and Fitness Expo to pick up my team's race packet. The process was quick and we got cool merchandise; we also went to another city to pick up our t-shirts to promote our charity (made by Island Dog's founder - Katie Block). I couldn't sleep since I was so excited and worried about not getting late and missing the bus to the first relay exchange point. Also because of my feet condition. My podiatrist taped both my feet and gave me orthotics to run the event with them and I test run with all that but a 2-mile jog in the neighborhood doesn't compar...
