We have made it to throw back thursday beasts. I love this pic. Reminds me of how much I love being on that stage and prepping for a show. As I reflect on my life where I am post-competition, for me this has been some kind of hell. Having your abs go into hybernation and weight gain that is "normal" yet leaves you feeling less than ideal has taken its toll on me. I have been battling my own hell that I have created on body image issues. And its a real epidemic for most in the body building sport. We put so much emphasis on our self value and worth based on how lean we are. At least that has been my experience and its ****** up!!! It is my journey to start allowing my body at different times of the year to be what it needs to be. There is a time to prep and then there is a time to heal; to heal from all the **** we do to our bodies. It is not serving or kind what we have to do to get on that stage. And I get that. But there is a time after where we need to love ourselves and give ourselves the time to allow our bodies to rest and reboot. This has been by far one of the hardest challenges since I have been done competing this year. For those having similar struggles, I feel you. What we resist persists so allowing our bodies to be is what needs to happen. Yes, still take care of your body through nutrition, exercise and adequate sleep but sometimes the beast needs to rest too. Hope everyone is having an epic week.
