Why I don't Barbell Squat

I have learnt that any direct compression of my spine causes excruciating muscle spasms due to a birth defect in my lower back which means Barbell Squats are out but I am learning there are so many other alternatives out there and as my lower body continues to get stronger I can't wait to discover more. I have incorporated of Goblet Squats into one of my Total Body workouts and have currently worked up to 4 sets of 12 reps @ 20kg (44lbs) after only 4 weeks. I am loving how my lower body is leaning out with my focus on strength for the #stillinit challenge.
