My biggest mistake as a newbie? Well, I have two actually. Number 1. Thinking carbs were bad and should completely avoided. Yup up until last year I never ate any carbs, I would binge eat once a week and go back to my tub life of chicken and broccoli after that. I wasn't the friendliest person to be around but I considered myself "dedicated." You can see my transformation in later posts but this is me now eating over 400g of carbs and maintaining my body weight. I completely destroyed my metabolism before and it's taken me this long to get my body in check. Don't give into the "quick fixes" and gimmicks guys. No special diet will make you lean the fastest.
