core sucks

I was recently informed that my CORE sucked(well not in so many words) but it's true! And I am not talking about the fact that I don't have SHRABS(shredded abs) 365 days a year....hell I'm 31 and I've had shrabs a total of approx 21 days my entire life(7 days out from each of my competitions). I'm talking about core strength in general. A strong core is the foundation for connection between upper and lower body. Whether it's a simple task like bending to tie shoes, mop the floor, shoot a puck, run or SQUAT, the motion either originates or has to pass through your core. Having a weak core hinges upon how well your legs and arms function thus limiting the amount of power required for any movement you are trying to accomplish. When people think of 'core training' they typically associate it with rippling abs and a primary focus on endless abdominal flexion exercises. Remember the washboard effect is the result of decreasing body fat ultimately through diet. Often the other components of a strong core are overlooked such as lower back and hips. Currently I struggle with lower back pain...chronic lower back pain and I am not ignorant to the fact that it is 100% the result of my weak core. So as that someone so kindly reminded me that 'your core sucks' I have challenged myself to complete the following 3x a week and I invite you to join in 6:45 plank 1m front plank 1m side plank 1m side plank 45s front 45s side 45s side 30s front 30s side 30s side Challenge yourself to Transition from front to side to side back to front with little to NO dropping. Don't panic if this is something that doesn't come naturally. @kris10amyotte can attest to just how hard this!!! But strengthening anything requires progression so work for progress not perfection!!! #chasingstrongcore
