take that BULLY

When I was 9 I wore red spandex to a track meet. I remember I was so excited to wear them as I thought the fact they were red would make me even faster....I remember how proud I was to match my first place ribbon with my red spandex.... I remember how excited I was to get on that school bus and show it off to all my friends..... I remember seeing that older boy sitting in the back seat.... I remember hearing his words "you should not wear spandex, your legs are huge".... I remember feeling my face turn the color of my shorts as I cowered into my seat, choking back tears trying to pretend I was okay with his comment...for years I heard his words, echoing at every volleyball tournament, track meet or even just summer day.....today as I quickly sprinted from bathroom to bedroom to change I was stopped in my tracks by the reflection in the mirror and suddenly his words came haunting back....
