Took a little trip to Kentucky today to visit my uncle who has pretty severe dementia. The pic on the top left is a depiction of his day with me. Not remembering who I am, sometimes even cussing at me and screaming at me. He has just literally lost his mind. Dementia is a sad and heartbreaking disease. He used to be so full of life. And now he’s this shell of a man who doesn’t seem to grasp what he’s doing from one moment to the next. I took him to the local Memorial Day Parade, we went and visited my aunt and mamaw’s grave site… even ate a big cookout lunch together. Just heartbreaking to see how quickly that disease can take you. Hold tightly to your loved ones… you’re not promised tomorrow.
