OVERALL RATING
I love working out. In fact itâs about changing the way I use to think. Change is challenging. One of the things Iâve learned from John Maxwell about change is that no one really likes to change, not even leaders - unless the change is their idea! John says, âMost people are more comfortable with old problems than new solutions, because the new represents the unknown.â Itâs awkward to do something new. Right? As leaders, itâs important to recognize that change is a difficult process for the people we lead. You have to remember they arenât in your head as youâre dreaming of a better tomorrow, and they canât see your heart for why things need to change. Itâs your job to show them your heart and allow them inside your head. We all know that change is necessary, but hereâs something we canât ignore... it is vital for your team to accept the change you propose. As a leader remember to SLOW DOWN, COMMUNICATE clearly and simply, and MAKE TIME for those around you to process the ideas. There is value in change but not at the expense of just making it. I lay on the couch and watched fitness stuff for a year while I processed the act of doing it. I asked questions of people who were on the journey so I could discover their pitfalls as they began. It took me awhile to change but thatâs okay. You canât push someone to be different just because. No matter how good or necessary change is for others, it will ultimately fail if the people around you donât accept it. So maybe someone has pushed you to workout. Thatâs okay. Take your time. Be focused on your own journey. Just donât take to long to start.
