Saturday! Weekends! Got my workout in! I felt good today. Even if I didnât get as much sleep as I desired I was feeling the sets and reps really well. I love it when I hit that zone. I am focused. I am pushing hard. I am finding that inner beast that allows me to discover those few more reps to failure. I am going to be sore tomorrow. But thatâs ok. I love that feeling. Often people quit when they feel that muscle soreness. They think. Oh I should rest a few days till it goes away. Friends try not to do that. That soreness is good for you. Shows you pushed your muscles to do something they havenât before. When you take a break you always find yourself with being constantly sore. Then you end up talking yourself into not working out. Delayed onset muscle soreness usually means your muscles are getting stronger. Exercise physiologists refer to the gradually increasing discomfort that occurs between 24 and 48 hours after activity as delayed onset muscle soreness (DOMS), and it is perfectly normal. The muscle discomfort is simply a symptom of using your muscles and placing stresses on them that are leading to adaptations to make them stronger and better able to perform the task the next time. Stretching helps break the cycle, which goes from soreness to muscle spasm to contraction and tightness.
