HI! Grrrreat. Now that I have your attention: lessss talk about something serious. The A-word. . We've all dealt with it at some point in our life. You probably know someone (or a couple someone's) who has dealt with it. Heck, you may even be dealing with it at this very moment. What I'm talkin' about is... ANXIETY. . Raise your hand if you've ever been personally victimized by anxiety? ?? #MeanGirlReference A few weeks ago, I was talking with a friend of mine who was pretty upset and she mentioned that she dealt with chronic anxiety. When I admitted that I had dealt with anxiety as well, this seemed to surprise her because I had always seemed so upbeat & "together." But admitting that I dealt with it too made her feel better... and that got me thinking. How often do we feel totally ****** and forget that others feel or have felt the same exact way? Often times, when we get down, we feel alone - like we've just been dropped down on a deserted island in the middle of the Atlantic. But I think that when we're in these funks, it's SO important to remember that we aren't alone & we aren't the only ones feeling this way... especially anxiety, which is such a common thing for adults (& even adolescents.) You aren't weird for feeling depressed or anxious & if you start to get down on yourself because you're feeling less than rainbows, unicorns, & sunshine just take a second and remind yourself that you're doing the best that you can. Treat yourself like you would a friend; be gentle with yourself, speak kind words, be encouraging. And if you ever have the opportunity to be there for someone who is feeling the crippling affects of anxiety, I hope you make them feel like they aren't alone in this fight. ....
