Deceptive weather in the alpine area caught some friends who were hiking an hour or so later than us, drenching and pelting them with hail in a heavy thunderstorm that dropped the temperature by about 15 degrees C in half an hour giving them a freezing 6km hike out with numb fingers over the next 90 minutes
