The Importance of Rest

Exercise should never be used as a punishment or as a means of "earning" certain foods. You should never have overwhelming feelings of guilt for taking rest days. If this is true for you, I believe it's necessary to reevaluate your goals and your mindset. There is a difference between using excuses to skip the gym and resting because you are truly listening to your body, but only you can know what that difference is for yourself! Every person is different and there is no perfect formula of training days to rest days. Pay attention to your performance levels in the gym and how you feel in order to work smarter, not necessarily harder. Ask yourself: "Do I need to practice discipline today, or is my body trying to tell me something?" Exercise is an outlet to improve yourself physically and mentally, it's okay to take some time off. Sometimes life happens. It's okay...just don't ever give up. #BestSelf
