Being the 'fat kid' when I was in elementary school, I would have never imagined I would have the strength to make the changes I have. I almost see the teasing as a blessing though. These days I would have been more average compared to other children in weight and may not have decided to make the changes I needed to make for my self respect and health.
My first taste of bodybuilding was in a weight training course back in high school. Although I enjoyed it, I didn't see the potential for a transformation due to my diet not being in check.
It wasn't until years after that I stumbled across this site. To be honest, I don't know how I found it. I assume I did a google search for something which led me here.
Over the years I've generally maintained a lean physique. Like some I am sure I've gone through periods of injuries and set backs, but I am now more motivated then ever.
I am motivated to add on some muscle mass. I know it will be a long progress, but I don't plan on going anywhere any time soon. I believe that it is the journey, not the destination.
I love bodybuilding for a few reasons. It provides an avenue to set goals and see those goals manifest.
It gives me confidence to set new goals and try things outside my comfort zone.
I recognize how people treat you differently when you are in good shape.
It gives me energy. I could start a cardio session tired and finish it with increased energy.
It allows me to dig deeper to push harder than I thought I possibly could.
