I started working out when I was very young by doing basic workouts at home because I had a high energy level and liked to challenge myself. By the time I graduated from college, my workouts became more serious and I was working out with weights just about everyday. My arms and abs developed in a short amount of time, however, my legs, calves, and back where hard to build. I started reading fitness magazines and books to get some insight on how to balance out my physique and it took several years to even my body out, as I would work very hard on one body part at a time- first my legs, then my back, and finally the calves.
During that time, I suffered a lot of injuries, probably because I was training too hard. I was eager to make progress and accomplish my goals, so I started looking for a low impact activity that I could do, and decided to take swimming classes and learned how to swim.
Intrigued by Bruce Lee and other great martial artists, I went on to take martial arts classes. I enjoyed board breaking and doing flying side kicks, I felt like I was doing stunts for a Hollywood movie.
After earning my Black Belt in Taekwondo, I decided that I was ready to compete for my Pro card in Figure. In 2010, I earned 2 Pro cards, one in Figure and another in Fit Body for The WNBF and have competed as a Pro for the last 3 years.
I love to work out because I am a natural athlete. That is who I am and who I will always be. I have very high energy level and have trained for several hours a day for most of my life.
If I ever have a moment that I really feel I need motivation, I think about how good it feels to be in shape and look my best. I enjoy getting dressed up and wearing pretty clothes!
