I started going to the gym in October of 2009. I like to be outdoors and I wanted someplace I could workout for the cold months. However, I just REALLY started working out the week after Christmas of 2009. I was complaining to my husband about not seeing any results really. So he mentioned that may not be lifting enough weight. So, since that day I've been logging my calories and hitting the gym 5 times a week. I figured that I'm already big and fat, I might as well be big an fit. I'm now lifting as much as I can for at least 4 reps but if I can do 6 reps I know it's time to move the weight up. I don't know if this is wrong or right, but so far I've gotten better results in just two weeks of that than I did with two months of the way I was working out previously.
I love the way I feel when I'm done. I love it when i can add another plate to lift. I strength train very early in the morning and I think to myself, "Wow, look at what I've accomplished all before 7am."
