I gained weight steadily over several years and got up to 148 lbs, which doesn't sound like a lot for a 5'8" female, but it was all fat and it was clearly not a sign of happiness and fitness. In fact, it was very much a sign of depression. I started my nutrition, running, circuit training, and lifting consistently in February 2011. I lost 20 lbs. in six months. My goal was to compete, as a way to remain motivated in my efforts. Alas, life had other plans!
Fast-forward to 2018. After a three year exercise hiatus, I was back at 146 lbs (as of January). In those three years, I gave birth to two adorable babies and relocating from halfway around the world - literally! (I was in Australia.) Now, I'm ready to get my body and mind back and I am in the #250kchallenge for extra motivation.
At first, as with most people who are overweight or unfit and who begin a fitness routine, seeing progress was sloooooow. It took me the normal time frame to lose 20 lbs. of fat and to start leaning out. Seeing my body transform, as the result my hard work and consistency, is tremendously rewarding!
