At the beginning of this new fitness lifestyle with my wife I was 267 pounds still squeezing into a size 38 waist pant cause I did not want to buy a 40. We were both miserable with ourselves and what we had let our lifestyle become. We started at home workouts for the first 3 months until that was no longer enough it was time to get more advanced and I wanted to get back into the gym. We joined the gym and at first all I did was mostly cardio and body weight exercises to see the scales move down. I was about 6 months into it in June 2013 I decided it was time to start lifting and building muscle so that I would not be skinny fat with no definition. I continued to do cardio slowly backing down how much so I could focus more on lifting and by October really only did enough cardio to burn the calories in my post workout shake. Now it has been a year and half total with a year solid of weight lifting and I love the results and the changes I have seen in my physique from lifting.
I love the feeling of the pump, the way you look in the mirror half way through your sets on a given muscle, I love working out with my wife so that we push each other, help each other achieve new goals. I enjoy tracking my workouts on my bodyspace app and seeing my weights go up from workout to workout continually pushing myself to lift harder and heavier. Nothing else matters when I am in the gym I can focus solely on my workout for those 2 hours before work and get to work feeling better about myself and have more energy and keep my diet in check all day cause let's face it I am not going to blow my diet and counteract what I just busted my butt in the gym for those 2 hours for.
