My Grandpa and Uncle have always been big powerlifters. I played football in high school and started lifting then, but not serious. I earned a college scholarship and started lifting semi hard. When I hurt my knee 2 years ago playing for the college, I couldn't do anything and blew up to 305lbs. When my leg heeled I made a commitment to get the weight off. They told me I could never play football again which just drove me to work even harder in the gym. My buddy Tim and I hit the gym hard and from August 2011-May 2012, I lost 100lbs. I maintained that and now started switching it up and trying to put on some mass. I am very into bodybuilding and would love to compete one day. I am up to about 215 lbs but have lost 1.5 % BF in 6 weeks so I doing something right!
I love body building for many reasons. It is a huge stress reliever between work at the local jail, and being a full time student. I also love the feeling of pushing your body to the absolute limit. I love breaking through all the mental barriers while at the gym. When you do that, you see drastic changes in your body and I love that.
