I was NEVER involved in fitness growing up. I was a band geek ...LOL. Yes...I played
the clarinet with my twin sister in HS and loved it : ) To be quite honest âAccidentallyâ Yes, I sort of accidentally fell into competing. In September of 2004 my youngest daughter was entering preschool and I decided to join a local gym to get in shape.
After a few months of working out with no direction and admiring the photos of the fine physiques of past and current gym competitors hanging on the wallsâ¦.I decided it was time to hire a Personal Trainer.
In January of 2005 I finally made an appointment with a personal trainer. He asked me what my goals were and I jokingly said that "I would like to look like the picture hanging on the wall" (pointing to a gym member who competes). He said âIf you expect to look like her, then I will expect you to compete as wellâ. Never in a million years did I think I could get in that type of shape, so I said to him⦠âIf you get me in that type of shape, I'll enter a competitionâ. After just a few weeks of training, I was told by my personal trainer that I should enter the November 2005 INBF Monster Mash as a novice bodybuilderâ. So the 10 month journey began and in February of 2005 I started to see changes in my body and at that point I began to realize that maybe I COULD enter a competition. At this time I realized I needed to research competing as much as possible. During this research I accidentally came across an article on âFigure Competitorsâ. I had never heard of a figure competitor before but I immediately knew that this was for me!!!!
Soâ¦4 months later I entered my first INBF Figure show and took home 4th place. Six months after that (and 2 more 4th places) I won my WNBF Pro card!!!.
Hence...that is how Melissa4figure.com came about : )
This is a wonderful sport that makes me feel proud of my own accomplishments. Before you head onstageâ¦.try finding as much information from various seminars, trainers, or classes so you can shine and look your best ever. Donât be afraid to ask questions and learn from your mistakes.
