Having had a baby a couple years ago, I started putting my needs and wants last after my familyâs needs. This lead to me not making time for exercise and eating right. I would not eat for several hours which lead to me binging on unhealthy âconvenientâ foods. I barely gained anything while pregnant but after having a baby I put on 60lbs!
I started losing a lot of that weight the way I always did in the pastâ¦crash dieting and a little cardio here and there. I then came to the realization that I was starting to see a pattern in my lifeâ¦yo-yoing between just FAT and SKINNY FAT.
I needed to break this cycle: for my health, strength, energy and longevity. Even more important, I wanted to be a positive role model for my daughter and not pass on these unhealthy habits to another generation. In order to do this I had to reprogram my brain about food and reprogram my bodyâs metabolism, which crash dieting had reeked havoc on.
I started working out more regularly and added a little weight with some light dumbbells. While researching some exercises, I came across bodybuilding.com. My obsession began. I started getting stronger, leaner, and more energetic in just a few weeks! In fact I feel better now than I have since I was a child; even my chronic joint and back aches have gone away.
Since I started eating clean and lifting heavier along with cardio, my cravings for unhealthy foods and desires to binge eat have completely disappeared. I now have, for the first time in my life, a healthy view on eating. I used to think of food as evil, now I eat to fuel my body and enjoy it without guilt.
I have a long way to go to achieve my goals in terms of the appearance I want, but I have already achieved my goals in terms of changing my mindset and attitude towards food and exercise. This is not a âdietâ or temporary fix for me, this is a new lifestyle that has changed my life completely and I plan to maintain for the rest of my life.
