I've "started" many, many times in my life. First was in a weight training class in high school (1988)... then I "started" again in my final year of college (1992-93)... then "started" a few years after graduating college at Gold's Gym (1996-99). More recently, following a LONG layoff (summer 2008), I "started" lifting at home with a basic home gym I scored on craigslist. I've been lifting fairly regularly ever since, but am just now (2011) starting to establish my workouts and dietary considerations to get the most from my workouts.
When I look back at all my previous "starts", I now realize I didn't know sh** about how to get the results I wanted. Now that I'm in my 40's, I finally feel like I finally know (enough) to be able to structure my routines and diet to get the results I've always wanted... but am still discovering I don't know sh** and am learning new stuff all the time! lol
I love the way I feel after a super-hard workout where I've pushed myself to work harder than I thought I could. Getting bigger and stronger is pretty stinking cool too! ;-)
As I've become more integrated into this site, I love keeping other motivated and seeing their improvements... and the common-goal I share with friends drives me to workout harder each and every time I hit the weight!
