I have maintained a reasonable level of fitness most of my life. As a youth I played a lot of sports and later started lifting weights and running. Running turned into my main focus and I started competing in running events from 5K to full marathons. After retiring from the Navy, I got involved in over the road truck driving. The first two years or so of my driving career I didn't do much for fitness and found myself out of shape and over weight (240LBS) for the first time in my life. I didn't like the way I felt or looked. I started training again, got back in shape and lost weight. Even though I drove truck for 12 more years I managed to stay in shape and have been working out and running ever since.
Why I Love it
I like feeling strong. I'm happy with the way I look. I can still do the physical things that I could 20 years ago. I enjoy sports and it feels good when the younger men ask me to join them in a basketball or softball game.
