Working out and playing sports have always been a part of my life. Both my parents were always active at the gym, and I grew up watching my father run marathons and play handball. I swam competitively when I was young, ran track, played softball and basketball during high school and am a black belt in Tae Kwon Do.
After college, my dad introduced me to golf and Bikram Yoga. I still love to play golf (although I don't get out as much as I'd like!) and am now a certified yoga instructor (RYT-200) and have worked as a personal trainer.
My interest in bodybuilding/fitness competitions began when I went to watch a friend compete in the Nevada State bodybuilding show in 2008 as a heavyweight bodybuilder. Shortly after watching him compete, we started dating and a year later got married. My interest in figure competitions was growing, but I had a bad injury from breaking my leg during 2007. After my leg was fully recovered, we started training for shows together and shortly after my first figure show, I got the bug and knew I wouldn't give up reaching my goal of becoming an IFBB Pro Figure athlete.
I absolutely fell in love with the challenge of competing in figure competitions. I always made staying in shape a priority, but I am by nature very competitive so getting on stage and competing with other amazing women and myself is a huge rush for me. I'm my most tough critic, so I'm constantly improving something.
Also, I LOVE food and LOVE sweets so always having a show to train for keeps me focused and trains me to enjoy in moderation.
