January 2002 was when I changed my life. I started going to the gym consistently and I didnât leave the gym until I burnt 600 calories on the elliptical machine. Living at home I had to buy my own food and not eat what my mother would cook for meals because I knew they werenât healthy for me. My family was not supportive of my weight loss; I was often called hateful names by them. I did my best to shut out the hurtful names, and when they would say things to hurt my feelings, I would just leave and go to the gym. There were times where I would be in the gym twice a day because I knew I had to do this for me, and the hurtful names I was called just made me push harder, not turn to bad eating habits. Six months went by and people started noticing that I was losing weight and the compliments started coming. It was a great feeling that people were actually noticing and that gave me more power to push even harder! I dropped 50lbs over the course of 2 years on my own without the help of a personal trainer or nutritionist and started becoming very addicted to the gym, working out and eating healthy, but it wasnât until 2012 that I really took my fitness to the extreme! People always asked me how I did it, and if I ever thought of doing a competition, my response was â i did it by eating right, and working out, I did it the right way, and yes I have thought about doing a competition, itâs on my life list.â I sat back and said to myself, âwhat am I waiting for, why donât I do a competition.â Thatâs when I made the decision and set a competition date for September 8, 2012 NPC / Jon Lindsay Tournament of Champions in Culver City, CA
Since Doing the "Tournament of Champions" where it all started for me, I have competed in NPC Grand Prix Los Angeles April 2013 where I placed 8th. I have also competed in the NPC USAs in Las Vegas that took place July 26-27th where I got 2nd Call Outs- Placed TOP 10, 10th Place for my FIRST National Level Show! This journey that I've been on has been more then amazing, its hard to put all my feelings into words but to sum it up, I enjoy every workout, every competition, I ensure that I have FUN at every competition and I have MET some really amazing people along my way. However, my journey is not over, ultimately my long BUT short term goal is to earn my IFBB PRO Card and I have plans to hit the national stage a few more times in 2014! So with that said, please get familiar with this face of mine as you will be seeing me a lot more!!
I can honestly admit that i am addicted to working out. Fitness is my passion and is a huge part of my life. I feel better after a great workout. I cant explain the adrenaline rush that you get when you're in the gym pumping it up to one of your favorite songs on your playlist! I get in my own lane when im in the gym with little distractions as possible! Most people who know me, know that when I'm in the gym its "FOCUS" time. No time for talking, I am there strictly to GET THE JOB DONE. I make sure I enjoy every workout, if you don't enjoy every workout then its almost like you don't want to even be there. There are always good days and bad days, we all have them. However, when I walk into the gym, I shut everything out and take that time to solely engage the mind to muscle concentration! I often tell people "SEE IT, DO IT, LOVE IT, LIVE IT"
