I was always an athlete, and grew up playing volleyball and softball. In highschool I found a love for running. I ran track and XC through high school and college. Unfortunately during this time I also developed severe eating disorders. These took a huge tool on my life for the last ten years. The last few years have been the worst, as I was hospitalized numerous times for heart failure, and even for liver failure. I could hardly function, let alone work out hard. In the fall of 2015 my doctors told me my body could not take any more, and I was going to die by Christmas with the status my body was at. At first I gave up, and even considered suicide. Then I realized I had to much to live for...my family, friends, my job....and I knew I needed to get healthy. I've always loved the gym, so I decided to let it help me reach my goals with my health. I always admired bikini competitors, so I set my goal to compete. I never though it would actually happen, but 5 months later, it did! Although I am still new to the sport, I absolutely love it! Everything from the workouts, to the nutrition, and especially the friends I have made! I have never been happier, and I can honestly say I love the bodybuilding lifestyle! It has truly saved my life.
I have always loved working out and eating healthy. It just makes me feel good and accomplished. Now that I compete, I have more of a reason to do it. This lifestyle makes me feel like I have a purpose. It gives me a reason to wake up, eat, workout, and recover. I have loved my competition experience as well. However, the best part of it all is the wonderful people you meet, whether it be at shows, the gym, in forums online..... everyone has a similar purpose, and we are one big family!
