I've been athletic since childhood, enjoying gymnastics, cross country and track as a teen. As a gymnast, I found that I built muscle easily. And sadly, that scared me. In my twenties, I continued to stay fit, but focused on cardio because I didn't want to look beefy. My thirties were spent building my family and fitness became less important to me. Oh the shame! February 2010, age 39, the spark was reignited. I discovered something new and exciting... martial arts mixed with body weight strength training. My fitness addiction began. Followed by nutrition. One year later, March 2011 at age 40, I was feeling so strong that I decided to try weight training for the first time in my life. I am lucky to have found a very knowledgeable and supportive trainer. He has taught me to embrace my natural ability to build muscle and encourage me to keep pushing.
